1. Who can participate?
ASMO Primary Division Contest
It is open to Primary 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 students from ALL primary schools in Malaysia.
ASMO Secondary Division Contest
It is open Secondary 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 students from ALL secondary schools in Malaysia.
There are awards for individuals and teams. Teams awards are only available for school teams.

Urge your principal, math teacher, or anyone else you can think of to help you out and register for the contest.
Please make arrangements with your school prior to registering as we must send the contest materials to the school directly.
If your school doesn’t offer the ASMO contest to you, please contact us to find out the nearest participating schools or ASMO Olympiad Centres. We will assist you in the registration arrangement.

NO. We will deliver the contest question/answer sheets to schools with a postage paid return envelope
(Pos Ekspres or Prepaid Courier Document).
After the contest, seal the answer sheets in the Pos Ekspres envelope and post it within 24 hours.
Detail instructions will be given.
Pos Ekspres is posted in the specially allocated YELOW Posting Boxes to differentiate it from normal mailings.
Do not post at the red Posting Box as this will delay delivery. You can also post it at the counter at any Post Offices nearby.
Prepaid Courier Document will be collected by the specific courier service company directly from your school.

1. Do students participate as individuals or as part of a team?
Students participate as individuals within a team.
Students must complete the Olympiad papers individually without help from any other team member.
During practise sessions, students may work in pairs or as a group.
No. The Olympiad program is designed to encourage all students to be involved. One of the main aims of the Olympiads is to encourage students to develop new skills and problem solving techniques.3. Can individual students compete in the Olympiads?
Yes. Registration fee for individual participant is RM50. Contest venue is at our ASMO Olympiad Centres.4. My child is being home schooled. May my child participate in the contest?
Yes. Your child can participate as individual participant at RM50 registration fee. Contest venue is at our ASMO Math Olympiads Centres.5. What happens if a student transfers to another school?
If a student transfers to another school that is participating in the Olympiads, his/her results can be transfered to the new school's team. We require written notification and details of both school teams
1. How many students can participate in an Olympiad Team?
Up to 20 students can participate in an Olympiad team.2. What is the minimum number of students that can participate in an Olympiad team?
There is no minimum for the number of students that can participate in a team.
Team scores are calculated using the overall Olympiad score for the top 10 students within a team.
Teams with less than 10 students are disadvantaged with team awards.
There is no limit to the number of teams a school can register. Often schools register 1 team per class.4. What is the age limit for students participating in an Olympiad team for Primary Division?
12 years of age in Primary 6 or below.5. What is the age limit for students participating in an Olympiad team for Secondary Division?
15 years of age in Secondary 3 or below.
1. How do we receive ASMO Questions?
ASMO questions and answer sheets will be sent by mail to the school approximately one week before the official Olympiad date.2. Can the Olympiad Questions be emailed to me?
NO. For security reasons we do not email the Olympiad questions to schools.3. How many Questions are there?
There are 25 questions in total.4. What is the time limit for ASMO?
The time limit is 2 hours.5. Are calculators allowed?
NO.6. How are the ASMO marked?
The answers are marked by us.7. How are the Olympiads scored?
Each question is worth 1 point, a total of 25 points.8. How are the scores for the ASMO awards calculated?
Individual score is calculated from the sum of score. The maximum possible student score is 25.
Team scores are calculated from the sum of the top 10 overall student scores.
The maximum possible team score is 250.
Awards are issued based on the above calculations.
